TWOVintage Tri-Fold Advertising Hand Fans by
U.O.Colson Co** of Paris, Illinois.
One is a
Salesman Sample
and one is from a Dry Cleaners
1) The
Salesman Sample
is the one that shows an idyllic country cottage in Fall colors. It was sold to customers by: A.M. Speltz of La Crosse, Wisconsin. His phone number is 3131-M. 4 digit phone numbers were used in the 1920's. So with the patent date of 1928, that dates this fan from 1928-1929.
2) The
Cleaners
is from Altadena Cleaners and Dyers. Phone number SYcamore 7-9612. Phone numbers with 2 Letters and 5 Numbers started in
1930.
This fan
shows a spring forest with a lake running down the middle.
Both fans measure 7" tall. They are 4.75" wide when closed and open up to 10.25". They are in very good condition. There is some wear abound the bottom where you hold the fan (with more wear on the Salesman Sample)
. Both have a tiny bend on one of the scallops.
There is a Patent number on the fan of: 1655229. Filing date: May 5, 1927. Issue date: January 3,
1928
